What size TV should you get? Learn More | Samsung’s Series 6 marks the first appearance of TOC (Touch of Color) design in the 2008 LCD HDTV line-up. Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung’s unique unique Transparent and Opaque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance. |
| | 3,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a superb picture, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.
| | DNIe⢠The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine. This exclusive Samsung technology dramatically improves the picture by enhancing the contrast, detail, white balance and reduces.
|
| The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky. | | | | |
| To make the Series 6 a true entertainment hub for any home, Samsung has incorporated advanced HD connectivity and networking capabilities that expand the HDTV’s functionality. HDMI is the best performing interface for displaying an HD source on an HDTV. A wide variety of multimedia devices can be connected to the set through the HDMI 1.3 inputs and the handy rear USB port. Once connected, users can easily access device menus and manage and display content through the newly redesigned Wheel Key Remote control and the HDTV’s sophisticated content management interface. All Connections - HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface version 1.3): 1
- Component video: 1 rear (Y, Pb, Pr)
- S-Video input: 1 rear
- A/V inputs: 1 side/1 rear
- PC Input (D-Sub): 1 rear
- RF antenna inputs: 2
- Premium audio: Improved sound quality with dedicated low-range speaker system

| TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the two hidden, downward-firing side-mounted 2.2-channel dome speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass. TruSurround XT audio also adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. - Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
- TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
- The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Stereo broadcast reception is offered for MTS and SAP with 181-channel capacity. A sound leveler keeps audio volume consistent during channel changing.
| With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. - Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
- Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Great TV October 17, 2009 Tom M. (Los Angeles) This TV has a great pic. I did my home work first. Decided to choose this one. I would recommend this TV to anyone.Very sharp pic. Worth the money .
Amazon had the best price.
Watch out for the TV Base on this one...very weak September 17, 2009 Jofp Gallagher (Manassas Park, Virginia United States) I am very satisfied with the TV in general, but the base stand is extremely poorly designed. It is very bad, and very weak to support the weight of the TV. My base gave in almost immediately after I bought it, and I don't want to put it in a mount wall. For the money I paid, this is too much hassle. I had to redesigned the TV base myself. I just can't believe how poorly designed the base is. It's like a luxurious Mercedez Benz using wooden wheels. It does not make sense. I wouldn't buy it unless they redesign the base to something more solid and durable. Other than that, the TV is great and easy to use.
Samsung LN22A650 22in 720p LCD TV July 1, 2009 J. Murray (New Mexico) This is my first LCD TV (that I kept). I read a lot of reviews on several web sites before I bought it. I've had it for four months now.
I am very pleased with the picture and sound quality. I am not an audiophile, so theater-quality sound is not important to me. It's not bad sound, just not high end. I live in a travel trailer, so I can sit at the right distance from the TV for comfort and best viewing quality. It was a bit difficult to get used to the rectangle viewing area instead of the old square type at first, but now I hardly notice it. I don't use the HD feature. I find the picture is plenty sharp enough without it.
I also like the Energy Star rating. I often run my electronics from an inverter from batteries powered by solar panels. The Samsung draws VERY little juice compared to my old Magnavox analog TV.
The "touch of color" bezel is interesting, but wasn't a selling point for me. It has a well-designed base pedestal, unlike an el-cheapo I bought from WalMart that kept wanting to fall over. I took THAT one right back.
One thing I learned from the cheapo TV is that even though the packaging SAYS the TV is compatible with major satellite TV remotes, this is not always true. The cheapo would NOT work with my DirecTV remote no matter what I tried. Wish I could remember the brand of that first one, because their customer service was lousy, too.
I would recommend this TV.
Bad customer service and repair!! May 24, 2009 HCE (USA) I purchased this tv in 2008, nice tv, I like it. After 6 months I had a problem with it. I called Samsung and told them that I wanted a new tv. Samsung said that "that is not their policy" and told me to send it back for repair. I told them that the tv was going to get banged up in shipping and at the repair factory. I get the tv back and it is scratched. I hook up the tv and it starts doing the same thing that I sent it it for. I call Samsung again and they tell me that they will send me out a new one. Why didn't they just do that from the beginning? I now have to wait until I get an e-label for shipping and send it back again, when they get it they will send me a new one. What a major pain!!
good tv, confusing advertising March 28, 2009 Mary F. Wilson (Orange, CA United States) Samsung LN22A650 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color
I researched this tv on samsung's website and others and couldn't figure out if it was actually a 3000:1 ratio or 5000:1 ratio. it was advertised as both, depending on where you looked. i took a chance and paid the extra hundred or so dollars, only to find out it was 3000:1. so why did i pay more money? otherwise, the tv's picture is super sharp and i have no complaints about that. the sound is horrible...you have to max it out just to get a medium volume, but my previous tv was the same way. set up was easy and the touch of color is nice, but not worth an extra hundred. overall, it's a great little 22" tv...probably better than most.
